With more than 15 years of experience in the financial services industry, Founder & CEO Nareena Khan, MBA, spent much of her career on Wall Street, where she was a wealth strategist who managed over $10 billion in assets and raised more than $3 billion in capital.

She started Titan Capital Strategies in the summer of 2025. Read the story in the Bethesda Business Journal.

She says, “I started Titan Capital Strategies to build something more personal, educational, and strategic than the traditional financial advisory model. My background includes Wall Street investment banking, institutional asset management, and private equity, where I gained exposure to sophisticated wealth-building strategies typically reserved for institutional investors, private equity firms, family offices, and ultra-high-net-worth families. Over time, I noticed a major gap.”

“I noticed many successful business owners, entrepreneurs, physicians, professionals, and high-income earners were building wealth, but they were not always structuring it efficiently. They were often told to work hard, save more, invest in traditional portfolios, max out retirement accounts, and hope everything would work out. That is important, but it is incomplete. Titan Capital Strategies was created to help clients understand that wealth is not just about accumulation. It is about structure, tax efficiency, liquidity, protection, and long-term flexibility. I wanted to bring a more sophisticated, family-office-style approach to entrepreneurs and families who may not otherwise have access to those conversations,” Nareena says.

Licensed throughout United States, Nareena’s background includes investment banking at Merrill Lynch in their New York and London office, institutional asset management, private equity, and advanced strategic wealth planning. She says, “Earlier in my career, I worked in environments where I was exposed to institutional-level capital strategy, alternative investments, private equity transactions, sophisticated tax-aware planning, and the way affluent families and institutional investors think about money. That experience shaped the way I view wealth today. I saw that wealthy families often do not simply invest differently. They structure differently. They think about taxes, liquidity, protection, succession, access to capital, and generational impact before major financial decisions are made. That realization became a core part of my work at Titan Capital Strategies.”

“My work is especially focused on helping clients understand how to reposition assets in a way that may improve tax efficiency, create access to capital, support retirement income, protect family wealth, and build greater long-term flexibility. I do this work because I believe most people are not taught how wealth is truly structured. They are taught how to earn, save, invest, and pay taxes. But they are rarely taught how to organize money so it can work more efficiently for them over time. What drives me is education. I want clients to leave conversations feeling clear, informed, and empowered. Many clients tell me, “How come no one ever taught me this before?” That question is one of the reasons Titan Capital Strategies exists.” — Nareena Khan

Nareena attended Rutgers College and earned a Bachelor of Science in biology, and economics with a focus on finance. She received her MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business in marketing and finance.

“I did not grow up knowing finance was even a career path,” she says. “I was born in a small village in India and came to the United States as a child at the age of 6. In my family, the traditional paths were medicine or engineering. While studying biology in college, I became fascinated by economics and finance. I quietly took additional finance and economics courses, including extra credits and summer classes, because I wanted to understand a world I had never been exposed to. That curiosity ultimately led me to Wall Street. Finance became more than a profession for me. It became a language of access, opportunity, and empowerment. I saw how the right financial knowledge could change the trajectory of a family. I also saw how many people, even successful people, were never exposed to the strategies that could help them protect and multiply what they had worked so hard to build. I chose this profession because I wanted to help bridge that gap”.

“I tell people that I am not a traditional financial advisor. I am a strategic asset advisor and capital efficiency expert. My work is focused on helping successful individuals, entrepreneurs, and families think more strategically about how their wealth is structured. Most of my clients have already done a lot right. They have built businesses, careers, real estate portfolios, or investment assets. My role is to help them ask deeper questions: Is their wealth structured in the most efficient way possible? Are they protected? Are they tax-efficient? Do they have access to capital when opportunity appears? Are they prepared for retirement income? Is their family protected if something unexpected happens? Are they simply wealthy on paper, or do they actually feel financially free?”

Nareena’s approach is educational, strategic, and highly personal. She does not believe financial advice should feel transactional. “I spent time in large financial institutions, and while the training was exceptional, I often felt the work was too focused on transactions, products, and the boundaries of the institution. I wanted to build deeper relationships with clients and help them think more holistically,” she says. “What makes my approach different is that I sit at the intersection of two worlds. I understand institutional finance, Wall Street, private equity, and the way affluent families think about wealth. I also understand entrepreneurs, builders, immigrants, families, and people who are creating wealth in real time. My strength is translating sophisticated strategies into clear, practical conversations that clients can actually understand and act on. Clients are not looking for more complexity. They are looking for clarity.”

“I help clients see what they may not know to look for,” Nareena continues. “Many successful people are excellent at making money, but they have not always been taught how to structure money. I help them identify potential gaps around taxes, liquidity, concentration risk, protection, retirement income, legacy planning, and capital access. My goal is to help clients make smarter decisions before major financial events happen, not after. That may include planning before the sale of a business, repositioning appreciated assets, creating tax-advantaged income strategies, protecting family wealth, evaluating retirement options, or designing structures that allow money to work more efficiently over time.I want clients to feel like they have a strategy, not just accounts.”

What Nareena most enjoys about her career is the moment when something clicks. She says, “Many clients come in thinking their only options are the traditional ones they have always heard: Save more, invest more, pay taxes, and hope for the best. When they realize there may be more strategic ways to position assets, protect capital, create income, and build flexibility, their entire mindset shifts. I love helping people feel empowered. I also enjoy working with entrepreneurs and business owners because their stories inspire me. I love learning how they built what they built, what drives them, what responsibilities they carry, and what they hope their wealth will ultimately do for their families and communities.”

“My mission is to help clients move from accumulation to architecture. Most people are taught how to accumulate wealth. Very few are taught how to structure it. I want to help clients build wealth that is more efficient, more flexible, more protected, and more aligned with the life they actually want to live. At a deeper level, my mission is to give clients access to the type of strategic thinking typically reserved for the very wealthy. I want them to understand their options earlier, make better decisions, and avoid looking back years later wondering why no one told them sooner.” — Nareena Khan

Nareena’s family’s story is very much an American dream story. “We moved here from India when I was 6. My father was a PhD in biochemistry, yet when he first came to the United States to Pullman Washington on a fellowship, he was only earning approximately $7,000 a year while supporting a wife and three small children,” she says. “Growing up, I saw sacrifice firsthand. I saw my parents make disciplined financial decisions, live within their means, and put their children’s education and opportunities ahead of their own comfort. One memory that stayed with me was hearing my mother tell my father that she would go without something for herself so they could buy something for one of the children, whether it was a dress for a holiday, a winter jacket, or a small treat. Those moments taught me early that money is not just money. It represents sacrifice, discipline, love, and responsibility.”

Nareena currently lives in Bethesda, Maryland  in the Washington D.C. “DMV” area—the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia. Outside of work, she enjoys fitness, wellness, design, family, close friendships, and entrepreneurship. “I end the day with ‘Shark Tank;’ I’m a total addict,” she says.
